উইকিপিডিয়াতে বিভিন্ন বিষয়ের উপর নিবন্ধ রয়েছে। বিষয়ের উপর ভিত্তি করে নিবন্ধগুলোর আকার, তথ্যের পরিমান ভিন্ন হয়ে থাকে। তবে প্রতিটি উইকিপিডিয়ার নিবন্ধই একটি সাধারণ গঠন পদ্ধতি থাকে। তবে সকল নিবন্ধই যে এই কাঠামোতে লেখা হয় এমন না। প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী বিভিন্ন বিষয় ভিত্তিক নিবন্ধগুলোর জন্য নিবন্ধগুলোর আলাদা আলাদা কাঠামো ব্যবহার করা হয়ে থাকে। যেমন  কোনো ব্যক্তি সম্পর্কিত নিবন্ধ এবং ঐতিহাসির স্থানের নিবন্ধের কাঠামো একই ধরনের হবে না। উইকিপিডিয়ার সাধরণ অনুচ্ছেদগুলো হল। ভূমিকা উইকিপিডিয়ার প্রতিটি নিবন্ধের একই ভূমিকা অনুচ্ছেদ থাকতে হয়। নিবন্ধটি সম্পর্কে সাধারন ধারনা দেয়া এবং সামগ্রিক বিষযের উপর আলোকপাত করা হয় এই অনুচ্ছেদে। নিবন্ধে বিশেষ কোনো অংশে বেশি গুরুত্ব দেয়ার প্রয়োজন হলে সেই বিষয়টি এই অনুচ্ছেদে উল্লেখ করা হতে পারে। তবে কখনোই কোনো বিষয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা শুরু করা যাবে না এই অনুচ্ছেদে। ইনফোবক্স নিবন্ধে ভূমিকার মতই ইনফোবক্স একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ। ভূমিকাতে যে তথ্যগুলো বর্ণনার ভঙ্গিতে লেখা হয় তার অনেক তথ্যই সংযোজন করা হয় ইনফোবক্সে। তবে এখানে উল্লেখ করা হয় অত্যান্ত সংক্ষিপ্তভাবে। নিবন

বাংলা উইকিপিডিয়া ( http://bn.wikipedia.org ) হলো বাংলা ভাষায় একটি পূর্ণাঙ্গ বিশ্বকোষ গড়ে তোলার এক মহাপ্রয়াস। বাংলাভাষায় এর আগেও বিশ্বকোষ তৈরী করা হয়েছে। সেখানে নিবন্ধের সংখ্যা ছিল সীমিত এবং অনেক ক্ষেত্রেই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিভিন্ন নিবন্ধকে উপেক্ষা করা হয়েছে। বিশেষ গোষ্ঠির তৈরী করা এবং সেখানে অন্যান্য কারও মতামত দেয়ার সুযোগ ছিলো না বলে, পক্ষপাত করা হয়নি সেটিও নিশ্চিতভাবে বলা যায় না। আবার নিয়মিত হালনাগাদ করার ক্ষেত্রেও অন্যান্য বিশ্বকোষগুলো বেশ পিছিয়ে রয়েছে। ওয়েব ভিত্তিক বলে হালনাগাদের ক্ষেত্রে উইকিপিডিয়ার বিশেষ সুবিধা রয়েছে। বাংলা উইকিপিডিয়া তৈরীর কাজ করছে বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তের মানুষ। শুধু বাংলাদেশ নয় বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশে অবস্থান করছে এমন বাংলাভাষীরা এই বিশ্বকোষ তৈরী করার কাজে অংশগ্রহন করছেন। বাংলাদেশীদের পাশাপাশি ভারতের পশ্চিমবঙ্গের ব্যবহারকারীরাও নিয়মিতভাবে বাংলা উইকিপিডিয়া সমৃদ্ধ করার কাজ করে যাচ্ছেন। বর্তমানে বাংলা উইকিপিডিয়াতে প্রায় ২৩ হাজার ৫০০নিবন্ধ রয়েছে। সেই সাথে চলছে নতুন নতুন নিবন্ধ তৈরী করার কাজ। বাংলা উইকিপিডিয়া কার্যক্রম শুরুর দিকে নিবন্ধের সংখ্যা বাড়ানো

উইকিপিডিয়া একটি মুক্ত বিশ্বকোষ। এটি ইন্টারনেটের উপর ভিত্তি করে তৈরী করা হয়েছে এবং ইন্টারনেট সংযোগ রয়েছে এমন যেকেউ এই বিশ্বকোষটি ব্যবহার করতে পারবে। উইকিপিডিয়ার কোনো কাগজে ছাপানো সংস্করণ নেই। ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে এটি পড়া যাবে, প্রয়োজন্য ব্যবহারকারীরা নির্দিষ্ট নিবন্ধগুলো সংরক্ষন করে রাখতে পারবেন। সংরক্ষন করে রাখার যাবে ওয়েব সাইট হিসাবে, পাশাপাশি পিডিএফ ফাইল হিসাবে ডাউনলোড করারও ব্যবস্থা রয়েছে উইকিপিডিয়াতে, আর পিডিএফ ফাইল তৈরী করা যাবে একটি নির্দিষ্ট নিবন্ধ থেকে আবার একাধিক নিবন্ধ একত্রিত করে পিডিএফ ফাইল তৈরীর অপশনও রয়েছে উইকিপিডিয়াতে। উইকিপিডিয়া যেমন বিশ্বের সকলেই বিনামূল্যে পড়ার সুযোগ পাচ্ছে, পাশাপাশি এই বিশ্বকোষ তৈরীতে অবদান রাখতে পারে যে কোনো ব্যবহারকারীই। এই বৈশিষ্টটি একই সাথে উইকিপিডিয়ার মূল শক্তি আবার এটি উইকিপিডিয়ার একটি দুর্বলতা। এটি একটি মুক্ত বিশ্বকোষ ফলে পৃথিবীর বিভিন্ন প্রান্তের অনেক মানসম্পন্ন লেখক এখানে অংশগ্রহনের সুযোগ পাচ্ছে। ফলে সামগ্রভাবে উইকিপিডিয়াতে ভালো নিবন্ধের সংখ্যা বাড়ছে। আবার যেহেতু যেকেউই এটি সম্পাদনা করতে পারে  ফলে এখানে তথ্য বিকৃতি বা ভুল তথ্য উ

A substantive redesign of the Wikipedia Mobile Version is on the way, it was publicly announced this week ( Wikimedia blog ). Specifically, based on the feedback of the community members the Wikipedia mobile team is focussing on making Wikipedia mobile version more user friendly. To this end, in the new design ( beta version available ) navigation options are now split between a main menu containing links to settings, the random article feature and nearby (a new feature based on the existing functionality on the Wikimedia Android and iOS apps) and an "Action Bar" which incorporates any features related to the article itself, such as the interwiki links. There was a long discussion this week on the wikitech-l mailing list about whether or not the right to create Gerrit repositories ("repos"; essentially stores of code for individual projects) should be extended to all WMF engineers in order to speed up the current development cycle. Responding, WMF developer and Gerrit expert Chad Horohoe explained that setting up a new repository is not just about choosing a name; rather, the creator must have to have some knowledge about the structure of user access permissions in Gerrit, plus a number of other related properties. Recent hire Adam Wight will start work at Wikimedia Foundation headquarters in San Francisco this week as a Fundraising Engineer ( wikitech-l mailing list ). He was involved in customizing open-source web services for non-profits at web development firm Giant Rabbit, and he is familiar with the CiviCRM system used to handle Wikimedia donations, which could prove vital in allowing him to more successfully support both the activities of the foundation and the other chapters, many of whom use the same software. Before joining here he was involved in the Atako Project (the first open-source Google Gadget directory); "Halfway Library", a project aimed at sharing and reviewing books; and "Prokaryote", an evolution/behavior patterns simulator used in university and high school classrooms.
